Ningaui - Antony Barry's web server

Welcome to the Ningaui server which runs from my home over adsl on a MacPro running MacOS10.6.1 (Snow Leopard) using Apache, PHP and PmWiki but more of that later.

I'm retired and this server is a hobby. Nobody is paid to do it. I do it (or don't do it) for fun. It entertains me and if you find anything in it of interest, well that's ok.

You might wonder what I would want to put on the server. Being retired there is a lot of my history such as -

Then there are the hobbies such as-

Organisation of the server

Newer material on the server is held in a wiki and older material from time to time gets transferred so there is be some instability. Not all material will be transferred as some is maintained by specialised databases and some items, such as publications, I wish to retain in their original format.

The wiki supports pages aggregated into groups. Additional groups may be set up as material is transferred. Each group can have its' own individual formatting and navigation bar on the right of the page. There will always be a list of all current groups at the bottom of the navigation bar.

The main areas are as follows-

Main server groups
Ningaui
This is the home page for the whole server
Family history
Contains my family history researches and link to the family history database.
Blog
Contains three items, my to maintain a blog completely manually, the current blog, which I am somewhat scatty in maintaining and a blog devoted to the development of the wiki. The latter wasn't necessary but it was one of the things you do because you can and I wanted to see how it turned out.
Notes
This is notes for me where plan out what I intend to do and collect documentation as needed so that when I come back to something after a long absence I can figure out what I was doing and intended to do. Basically boring so it password protected.
Writing and publishing
Proposed but not yet done
Old original home page
Contains links to the early material. This will bit by bit be removed. Retained for historical purposes.
Support groups
These exist in the background as documentation and to provide other support.
PmWiki
Documentation for users of the wiki
Site
Documentation for wiki system administrators
Subjects
This is a place holder for subject terms and links to pages.
